Access to Learning Fund
What is the Access To Learning Fund?
The Access to Learning Fund is a grant for those able to demonstrate genuine financial hardship. It can be used to help with living costs including childcare, travel, accommodation, household expenses, books and course equipment, but NOT tuition fees.
It cannot help those who have mismanaged their finances and have simply 'run out of money'. It also cannot fully compensate for the lack of parental contribution, especially where a student has only been able to take out the non-means tested part of the Student Loan.
Funds are available from October - June or until all funds are exhausted, whichever is the soonest.
Who can apply to the Access To Learning Fund?
Full-time "home" undergraduate & postgraduate students and part-time students (studying at least 50% of a full-time course (i.e. 60 credits)) can apply.
EU students must have fulfilled the residency criteria|. International students unfortunately CANNOT apply.
How do I apply?
Application Forms| and full guidelines| are available from Students 1st (RM050). Alternatively, you may wish to download these from this site.
Can I appeal?
If you are unhappy with the result of your Access Fund application you may appeal against the decision. |
