BA (Hons) Advertising (Full Time)
Length: 3 Years
UCAS: N564
Course overview
This degree course is one of the few in the UK to have been designed by the advertising industry for the advertising industry. Our aim is to develop creatives who think strategically, and strategists who think creatively.
You will learn all the skills needed to produce a successful advertising campaign. Your creative thinking and problem-solving skills will be developed as you study key areas of: brand management; integrated marketing communication; conceptual and idea generation for advertising campaigns; art direction and copywriting; media planning and buying; advertising strategy; and, crucially, the processes involved in producing a successful advertising campaign.
The rapidly emerging world of online advertising, rich media, social media, and mobile advertising are explored in units across the curriculum. In Year Three, options allow students the chance to specialise in online advertising and direct and digital advertising.
The course team has developed strong links with the British Design and Art Direction group and other professional bodies, enabling you to develop important, professional contacts in the advertising world. The course also organises agency visits, portfolio surgeries, guest speakers and work placements. Students are encouraged to enter competitions and exhibit their work.
