Students on campusThe service is primarily an enabling service, providing and maintaining buildings in which students can study and live and staff can work, as well as providing a wide range of support functions that underpin and support academic activities. 

We aspire to provide a safe, pleasant and aesthetically pleasing estate worthy of a modern University which supports our core teaching and leaning objectives.

We also aim to provide a high quality, seamless, and customer-focused service that includes estates management, residential accommodation lettings, facilities management and academic rooming. 

The service directly employs over 85 staff based at East Park Terrace and Warsash Maritime Centre, as well as indirectly employing many more outsourced staff providing catering, cleaning and other services. 

Areas Covered By The Service

Estates and Facilities provides the following support functions: -  

  • Estates management - providing strategic and operational estate management services, including maintenance and estate development, for both the East Park Terrace and Warsash campuses.
  • Residential Accommodation - with responsibility for the management of over 2300 study bedrooms in six Student Residences located within the city centre.
  • Facilities Management - providing support services which include catering, cleaning, reception, car parking, reprographics.
  • Conferences -responsible for income generation through the use of Universities facilities conference facilities and accommodation.
  • Insurance -ensuring that all of the Universities estate, assets and teaching activities are adequately insured at minimum cost.
  • Purchasing - overseeing the purchasing process to ensure that cost-effectiveness and value for money are continually achieved.
  • Academic room booking - efficient use of the Universities estate through the centralised allocation of all general teaching space.
