Professor John Latham
Deputy Vice-Chancellor
Professor of Business Analysis

John Latham joined Southampton Institute in 1991 having previously worked for Bournemouth University, the Open University, Horizon Holidays and University of Surrey. Following five years as Dean of Southampton Business School, he was appointed Vice Principal, Resources in 2003. He became Pro Vice-Chancellor, Resources in July 2005 when Southampton Institute became Southampton Solent University, and was appointed to the position of Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the beginning of 2008.

John has a first degree and PhD in Mathematics. As an academic, he specialised in tourism economics and statistics and undertook consultancy projects for national and international organisations. He currently serves on the editorial board of the journal Tourism Economics. John has undertaken work for the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) as both a business management reviewer and, until recently, as an auditor.

John's current role as Deputy Vice-Chancellor includes having oversight of the University's resources and the different aspects of student recruitment.
