Councillor Royston Smith

Councillor Royston Smith was co-opted to the Board of Governors in April 2009 and is a member of the Governance Committee.

Royston is the Leader of Southampton City Council and Councillor for Harefield Ward.  He is the Conservative Parliamentary candidate for the Southampton Itchen Constituency.  

Royston serves on many national, regional and local organisations, and is Chair of the Hampshire Fire and Rescue Authority.

Royston's background is in aeronautic engineering and he is a member of the Institution of British Engineers (MIBE).  He served as Ground Engineer with the Nimrod maritime reconnaissance fleet in the Royal Air Force for ten years before becoming Fleet Technical Engineer working on long haul scheduled maintenance with British Airways in 1990.
