Mark Byrne
Academic Board Nominee Governor (elected) 

Mark Byrne joined the Board of Governors in October 2006 and sits on the Student Liaison Committee. He is a graduate of Southampton Institute and the University of Southampton.

Mark teaches as a guest lecturer at institutions in the UK and Ireland and has acted as an external validation member on a number of occasions. He also acts as a reviewer and author for various units for external bodies.

Mark worked for HSBC for eight years in a number of mainly IT related roles prior to joining Southampton Institute in 2002 as a Senior Lecturer in Information Management within the Business School. 

Mark is a member of the British Computer Society, the Irish Academy of Management and the Higher Education Academy. His research interests include customer relationship management in the not-for-profit sector, project management and information security.

Having played basketball to a high level, Mark is now a national league basketball referee.
