Professor Glyn Tonge
Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Board of Governors   

Professor Glyn TongeGlyn Tonge joined the Board of Governors in 1997 and has been Chairman since July 2000. He also chairs the Remuneration and Nominations committees, as well as sitting on the Academic Titles Committee and Honorary Degrees Committee of the Academic Board. The title of Pro-Chancellor was conferred on Professor Tonge in July 2005.
 

Glyn has had a distinguished career in the field of biotechnology, healthcare and investment banking. He is currently a Partner and Director of Bluewater Capital Partners Pty Ltd, a private investment bank, and prior to this he was a Director of a UK Private Equity Fund. 

His earlier career included directorships of Baring Bros & Company Limited, Baring Bros International Limited and Head of Healthcare and Pharmaceuticals at ING Barings.  

He is a founder member of Grange Park Opera in Hampshire and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Institution in 2004. 

Glyn serves on a number of government committees, advising on research and investment in the biological sciences, and is a director of a number of public and private companies in the UK and Australia.

Glyn is a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of World Traders, a Freeman of the City of London, a member of The Athenaeum and Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine and the Institute of Biology.
