Andrew Kent
Independent Governor
Andrew Kent joined the Board of Governors in July 2005 and sits on the Audit and Governance Committee.
In a career with Associated British Ports (ABP) spanning more than 35 years, Andrew has had extensive experience in the ports and transport industry. He retired from his post of Port Director at ABP's Port of Southampton in 2005, having run the Port since 1989. During this time he was instrumental in developing Southampton as the UK's number one cruise port, the country's leading port for vehicle-handling, and home to the UK's second largest container terminal.
Andrew gained a BA(Hons) in Economics at Newcastle University in 1969 and subsequently an Honorary MBA at the (then) Southampton Institute. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.
Andrew has a number of business interests in the international ports, shipping and financial services sectors, and has held many public appointments. He is a Deputy Lieutenant of Hampshire.
